As technology changes, how should our pedagogy follow?

GECKO is a suite of online tools for developing and delivering questions and assignments in introductory electronics and software for embedded systems. It was developed as a core output of Bill Collis' PhD research in Electrical Engineering.

The underpinning pedagogy in GECKO is that students will engage at increasingly deeper levels of thinking. Initially students need a slowly-paced introduction to new knowledge. Then through using and changing simulations, as well as answering questions, students will move to deep understandings.

The pedaogogy underpinning GECKO came from research into the conceptual knowledge needs of students; and how many existing EdTech tools were not meeting students' and educators needs.
